Heartburn is a burning sensation in the chest and uncomfortable burping after a meal. People can also suffer from a silent form of the condition “Silent acid reflux” which leads to problems such as difficulty in swallowing, nagging cough and a sore throat. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms then you might suffer from a heartburn but don’t worry as we tell you some simple tips to reduce and treat it

In this problem the focus is on the lower part of the esophagus, so make sure you stand up straight and sit in a proper posture in a way that your upper body is elevated and as vertical as possible. The poor posture can result in acid reflux, so try to improve your posture.

  • Avoid overeating

Overeating may cause your stomach to become bloated that further makes it harder for your lower esophageal sphincter to close properly. Certain foods like coffee, chocolate, and spicy food are linked to heartburn, so try to avoid them. Also if you regularly get heartburn then try taking smaller meals throughout the day.

  • Stop smoking

Just like alcohol the nicotine in cigarettes can cause your lower esophageal sphincter to relax and it is likely to keep your stomach acid inside only, causing the reflux. Say no to smoking and avoid passive smoking as well.
