We often eat most of the food items cooked, but it is said that cooking few foods impact their nutritional value because of the heat exposure it gets. Though taste and flavor of cooked and raw food also vary but here are various foods that you must eat raw only. Check out the list below:
Raw coconut contains potassium, magnesium, and sodium and has a high level of electrolytes. And dry coconut doesn’t provide the same nutrition, so consuming it raw it beneficial. Drinking raw coconut water is also very healthy.
In Northern parts of India onion is served raw besides dishes as it is loaded with allicin and bioflavonoid quercetin that protects the lungs and supports heart health. It promotes cardiovascular health and reduces high blood pressure as well. Raw onion is filled with benefits than cooked one.
Roasted and salted nuts taste better but they have less nutritional values than the raw ones. Nuts are an important source of healthy fats that help in balancing diet and these fats help in decreasing the level of bad cholesterol. The salted nuts increase calories and lower the nutrient content.
Red bell peppers
Red peppers are loaded with vitamin C and cooking can decrease the content of Vitamin C, so it is better to eat them raw. As per experts, Vitamin C breaks down if it is cooked above 375 degrees.
Beetroot is rich in fiber, vitamin C, potassium, manganese, and the B vitamin folate so it offers many health benefits like boosting the immune system, lowering blood pressure and preventing cancer. Eating them raw is super healthy as cooking decreases the percentage of its benefits.
Broccoli is packed with protein, Vitamin C and potassium. It has a compound sulforaphane that gets depleted when cooked so eating it raw is a great idea than cooking it.
