What’s the best time to workout?


The time of the day when you workout is important as time impacts on the health. We may think we can exercise whenever we want but there are certain periods of the day it affects more and in a healthier way. Many times it has been seen that  workouts and diet too doesn’t help to reduce weight and to get back in shape as there are certain factors one needs to keep in mind to get it right.


We may feel that it’s not easy to maintain a perfect food habit but there is one thing we can do, that is exercise at the time. It has been found that the correct time for workouts is early in the morning before eating food especially for those who want to lose weight.  But many of others also say that do it later in the day when your body has naturally warmed up.

Dr K K Aggarwal, president, Heart Care Foundation of India (HCFI) says the best time for it is when the air pollution levels are the lowest. Traditionally, the best when you can go for an exercise is around sunrise or sunset to get enough Vitamin D. Whatever be one’s fitness goals, it can be achieved only with proper planning.  Research examined the difference between exercising in a fasted state, compared with after food, for four weeks. While both groups lost fat mass, there was no difference in the amount of fat lost between fasted and fed exercise.

However, it is  said that an evening workout is  good for gaining strength and for building muscles. Not only this but exercises in the evening are good for stress relief too because after being tired from the whole day’s routine, it’s good to energize with some push-ups.

There are advantages to both morning and evening exercise. To get the most health benefits from exercise, the best time of day to exercise is when you will actually do it.
