Health Check-ups Every Woman Should Get Done in Her 40s

As you approach middle-age, it is important to understand about taking care of your health and be informed about it. Some health issues start to become trouble with age, so it becomes even more important to keep track of them. The easiest way to do it is by getting tested regularly.  But now the obvious question comes to our mind, which tests should one go for? 

Apart from the tests recommended by your doctor as per your health conditions, here are some general tests that you can get done semiannual or annually to monitor your well-being. 

 1. Fasting Plasma Glucose Test

This test is done for diabetes and is to determine your blood glucose levels. Based on the results, your doctor might suggest you some lifestyle changes. 

2. Cholesterol Test 

It is also called the lipid panel test and determines the level of cholesterol and triglycerides in your body. Getting this done will help you keep a check on your cardiovascular health. 

3. Mammogram Screening 

Women should get screened for breast cancer, especially in their 40s. Getting yourself checked annually will help you catch any early signs and if there is any family history of cancer, your doctor might recommend it. 

4. Cervical cancer screening 

Pap test is done to screen HPV (human papillomavirus) infection. You can start getting tested earlier and continue doing it every 3-5 years. 

5. HIV Test 

Get tested for HIV irrespective of active sex life and lifestyle as HIV can also be transmitted through semen, bodily fluids and blood.
