Keto Diet
Keto Diet

The ketogenic diet is emerging as a new powerful tool to deal with the weight issue. This low carb diet requires a lot of attention and is very effective, but as you will be consuming only fats, there will be some serious changes in your body. So before starting be prepared as this diet has following side effects too.

1. Dizziness and drowsiness

As the the body will be eliminating minerals like potassium, magnesium, and sodium too which can make you feel dizzy, lightheaded, and fatigued.

2. Muscle loss

When you keep on following keto diet, your body enters the state of ketosis and stored fat start burning and leads to weight loss. But while you are losing fat tissue, you will usually lose some muscle tissue as well. This happens because carbohydrate plays a major role in muscle synthesis and there is a low intake of carbs in Keto.

3. Keto flu

This is one of the most common ketogenic diet side effects. Keto flu has flu-like symptoms that arise soon after beginning a ketogenic die which includes  fatigue, runny nose, nausea, and headache.

4. Constipation

Another side effect of the keto diet is some issues in the digestive system. You may not get enough fiber which could lead to bloating, gas and constipation.

5. Increased cravings

While doing the keto diet some people might experience carbohydrate cravings because of the sugar response from a lack of carbs. These cravings go away very soon, but still, it depends on the person.

6.Sleep Problems
With HPA axis dysfunction you are likely to experience a disruption in sleep.

7.Frequent Urination
On a low-carb diet, insulin levels drop which promotes the secretion of sodium in the urine. Sodium pulls more water into the urinary system which then is excreted as well.

8.Bad breath
The most readily excreted ketone is acetone, which has a “fruity” taste and is the main culprit of bad breath on a low-carb diet.
