Coffee

Coffee is love for many and brewing a cup early morning is a schedule they love! That beautiful smell of freshly brewed Java is true love for most coffee drinkers.

However of late, health advisors tell you to skip that morning dose of caffeine due to various health aliments that are linked to it. You can drink this delicious beverage but you can also make it healthier by following some simple steps:

Do not start with coffee first

First things first as much as I love my coffee, I always have water and a small biscuit or almonds before that first cup. They say coffee on an empty stomach can create a havoc with your thyroid levels and increase acidity. So never have it empty stomach.

Ditch artificial sweeteners

Artificial sweeteners can increase the risk of obesity, heart disease and type-2 diabetes. Try to go for unsweetened coffee, or use a small amount of real sugar. Artificial sweeteners spur cravings, so needs to be avoided.

Use grass-fed dairy or plant-based milk

Grass-fed dairy or plant-based milk have more nutrients, as well as anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids. You can also opt for milks and creamers made from almond, coconut, cashew etc. They have much lower calories than others and provide heart-healthy monounsaturated fat. Try procuring some Aplus certified milk which is free of additives.

Avoid artificial creamers

Artificial creamers come with a wide array of ingredients you would not like to put in your body. Add real cream that is organic and grass-fed. Healthy creams have the benefits of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) and vitamin K2. Its intake is also linked with lowering rates of cancer and heart diseases.

Use filtered water and organic beans

Coffee is more of water so its quality needs to be ensured. This goes for beans too! Check the quality before buying and read what would be the best to purchase, as they are the most heavily sprayed crop in the world, so the best quality is what you need to look for.

Add cinnamon to coffee

Want to make your coffee the carrier of antioxidants and something that can control your blood sugar levels? Add a pinch of cinnamon daily to your cup. Cinnamon has been used as a spice as well as a medicine since ages.

Smaller serving

Decrease the number of cups in a day or at least the quantity. Instead of big mugs shift to small cups and decrease the amount of caffeine you drink throughout the day.
