India is currently witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases with over 2 million people being infected by the virus. The government has imposed restrictions on the movement and we are back to where we were a year ago.

The hospitals are in bad shape because of lack of oxygen and beds so it is important stay safe by being at home. We understand that an extended period of inactivity can not be good for the body in long term, so here are a few practical ways to stay active at home. Take a look at them below and find out how you can utilize the space in your house.

  1. Move around the living room area as much as possible. Set timer after 2-3 hours and make it a habit to walk a bit for 5-10 mins.
  2.  If you have a garden, utilize it to get in some movement. You can also do some mat exercises in the morning.
  3. Use your bed to do exercises like pushups, raised planks, hip thrusts, and chest press if you have weights.
  4. Take some time out of your routine to dance a little bit as it is a good way to get in some cardio. If you are not fond of that, you can do skipping or jumping jacks.
  5. Clean your house yourself. It will keep you active and you will get to exercise each body part.
  6. You can get enrolled in some online fitness class.
  7. Try to eat healthy to stay active.

If you have very little space at home, you can still do a few stretching exercises as they won’t require much movement.

Think of creative ways to utilize the space in your house. You can also ask your family members to join you as it will keep you motivated.
