Why Celebrities Love Doing the Lotus Pose 

Celebrities who love doing Yoga keep sharing pictures from their daily routine. We recently spotted that there is one pose that they love doing and it is the Lotus Pose, also called Padmasana. Lotus Pose is traditionally known to calm the mind and prepare the practitioner for deep meditation. Read on to know more about lotus pose, its benefits and pictures of celebrities doing it below: 

What is Lotus pose?

Lotus pose is a cross-legged seated posture that is considered best for meditation. The legs are crossed and the feet placed on opposite thighs with the spine vertical and lengthened. The Sanskrit name for the lotus pose is padmasana. It is a very stable posture and  also has various physical benefits. 

How to do it: 

  • This pose can be done by sitting on the floor with the legs extended, spine straight, and arms resting at the sides.
  • Then cross your legs in a way that your left leg is over the right thigh or vice-versa,
  • Rest your hands on your knees with your palms facing up. 
  • Make Gyan mudra with your hands.
  • Soften your face and bring your gaze to the space between your eyebrows.
  • Hold up for the meditation
  • Repeat the pose.

Benefits of Lotus Pose: 

This pose is basically known to calm the mind , prepare you for deep meditation and helps in stretching the knees, ankles, and hips. This strengthens the spine and upper back and also increases circulation in the spine and pelvis, which can help to ease menstrual discomfort and distress in the female reproductive organs.
