It’s almost the end of 2020 and the novel coronavirus still continues to disrupt the lives of millions of people. Other than causing panic among people, it has also become a source of confusion and uncertainty when it comes to identifying the symptoms and signs of the virus.
As per a study amongst all the other common and classic symptoms of COVID-19, headaches may also be a less likely sign of the novel coronavirus. However, a person can face difficulty in differentiating between a normal headache and a COVID-19 induced headache.

How to identify a headache caused by Covid-19?
As per a report, headache has been identified as the fifth most common COVID-19 symptom after fever, cough, myalgia, and dyspnea. The study also noted the prevalence of headache in around 6.5 percent to 53 percent of COVID patients. A normal headache and the one caused by Covid-19 might feel the same.
The only difference is that the headaches caused by the deadly virus can go from having mild effects to a sudden rise in the impact on your health. Other than this, it may not respond to common pain-relieving medicines.
The research states: “The prevalence of headaches in COVID-19 infection seems to be underestimated in terms of variety and clinical description because the current focus has likely been directed toward severe respiratory patients.”
What to do next?
As it can be very difficult to tell the difference between a normal headache caused by a cold or migraine and that which is caused by COVID-19, you should contact your doctor in case you notice any other symptoms of the coronavirus along with your headaches. If you have other symptoms as well then get tested.
