When there is an excessive pain in a particular muscle, it’s your body telling you to hold off on exercising those muscles as it can be a sign of injury.

It could be a sign of rhabdomyolysis, a rare but life-threatening condition. This is mainly caused by body breaking down muscles and releasing myoglobin and creatine kinase into the bloodstream, which can even damage the kidney.
