Avoid Having These Food Items on an Empty Stomach

Most of us like to begin our day on a healthy note and hence try to reach for healthy food items to kickstart the day. There are many breakfast options available in the market but most of them aren’t the best food items to have on an empty stomach.  Even if you are eating after a long interval, these food items should not be your first choice.

Here is a list of food items to avoid eating on an empty stomach:

Cereals

Most of us love to have a bowl of cereal early in the morning but cereals are highly processed and contain refined sugar which should not be had on an empty stomach.

Sodas

Cans of sodas should not be had on an empty stomach as it can interfere with your body’s digestive process and may also have a negative impact on the mucous membrane.

Flavored yogurt

The packaged yogurt sold in the markets is available in many variants. If you like to have fruit yogurt in the morning then be aware of the added sugar in them. Add pieces of fruit to plain yogurt instead.

Waffles

If you love having waffles and pancakes in the morning then make sure they are made using wheat flour instead of maida.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes have a tendency to cause disturbance to the stomach lining as it contains tannic acid hence it is best to avoid having it on an empty stomach.

Cold coffee

It is best to have cold coffee after you have had your breakfast. Cold beverages can slow down the digestion process and consuming caffeine on an empty stomach can cause acidity.

Here are some food items to avoid having on an empty stomach. Stick to eating whole and nutritious food items for better health.
