Some Basic Cycling Tips for Beginners

In the current corona situation, people are asked to go out only when necessary, but people are bored and need some kind of change. Hence, they are now seen cycling on the roads which is a great exercise to stay healthy. Many people have started doing cycling as a part of their daily routine now. Make sure you buy a bike that suits you, an endurance-focused road bike will suit the beginners. 

  • Prepare a kit 

Before you go cycling, prepare a kit for yourself, keep a helmet, lock, bike light, gloves, shoes, and pedals with yourself. 

  • Start with short rides 

We know you must enjoy doing it, but go for shorter routes first and then go for longer ones. 

  • Learn to balance 

This one requires a lot of practice more than anything. If you’re afraid of falling, you can try using a balance bike or even training wheels. Wear proper protection for your knees as well.

  • Learn to change gears 

Changing gears can be a little complicated to understand in the beginning but try it as they can be helpful later.

  • Get your saddle height and riding position right 

Saddles that are too low make it hard to use your full pedaling range and leg power; saddles that are too high can lead to injury. You must get both these things right and fit according to yourself as cycling isn’t supposed to be painful, make it comfortable for yourself. 

  • Dress accordingly

There is no such thing as the wrong weather, just the wrong choice of clothes. So wear layers so that you can cool down or warm up quickly.
