Fat Bomb: The New Keto Diet Snack

Ketogenic diet is becoming popular and more and more people are opting for it. Since this diet is high on fat and low on  carbohydrate , there are now keto-friendly treats to satisfy the cravings without going overboard on carbs. They’re called “fat bombs,” “keto bombs,” or “fat fudge” and can be used in many different ways – as snacks, meal replacements, or as a side dish.

What are they?

These balls are different from energy balls or protein balls and have more fat over protein. They are becoming a favorite snack in the Ketogenic diet because of their good taste and ability to keep you full. They’re no-bake balls made with ingredients such as butter, cocoa powder, coconut oil, nuts and heavy cream, seeds, dates and sometimes artificial sweeteners like stevia.

Are they healthy?

Yes, they are healthy as they contain nuts which are high in fat and protein, but one should look after their portions. A person on a keto diet should at least take 20% of daily calories intake and fat bombs will help you get it. They maintain the blood sugar levels and help you feel fuller for a longer time. As fats are satisfying, eating fat bombs in breakfast can really help you stop snacking.

Should you eat them?

You can eat  them in moderation but don’t replace them for other unhealthy items, like cookies and snack cakes. They can help you stay fuller for longer due to their high satiety while avoiding a blood sugar spike and crash. One piece of fat bomb contains 150 to 200 calories and to maintain the balance of keto diet portion control is the key. For their healthy fillings, you can add nuts, chia seeds, and shredded coconut and cacao nibs to it.
