Mistakes to Avoid While Performing Burpee

Burpees are one of the best exercises that target every single muscle in the body and builds muscle fast.  It is a 90 years old but is still as challenging and beneficial as it is a complete exercise that combines push-ups, squats, and vertical jumps and helps you work areas such as the abdomen, back, chest, and legs. However, they are not the easiest exercise to do and people often commit mistakes while doing them. But to reap its benefits it is important to do it correctly without these common mistakes which most people commit.

  • Not warming up

We all know that warming up is really important, but most people still don’t do it. And in the case of burpees, a good warm-up is even more important since the exercise engages many joints.

  • Rushing through it

Burpees require coordination and endurance not speed. The most common mistake that many make is doing burpees quickly to finish them sooner. The faster you do them, the greater is the chance that you might hurt yourself. So take your time and do burpees accordingly.

  • Incorrect position of the shoulders

Another mistake that we commit while doing burpees is the wrong position of the shoulders. Doing this exercise with the wrong shoulder position can cause pain in the shoulder and wrists. So, when you do a plank, do not let your shoulders go past or behind your wrists.

  • Holding your breath

Burpees require a lot of physical effort, but you should not stop breathing. Doing so will cause your muscles to not receive oxygen and this will further cause you to perform badly.

  • Not giving your best

You might be doing burpees correctly, but if you don’t give your best effort in every burpee, you won’t see the results of the exercise. While doing it, try to do your best.
