Weight Loss: Sabudana Khichdi Vs Dal Khichdi

Khichdi is a wholesome meal as it consists of numerous nutrients that support weight loss and good health as well. There are different types of khichdi made in different regions of India like bajra khichdi, sabudana khichdi, toor dal khichdi etc and all of them have different tastes and health benefits. But all khichdis doesn’t help with weight loss so we tell you which one is a better option when you are trying to shed some weight.

Sabudana Khichdi:

It is a versatile food and can be turned into a savory khichdi or sweet kheer. Extracted from the edible part of the tropical palm tree root it is not quite nutrient-loaded. All it contains is a small amount of protein, calcium, iron, magnesium, and potassium but a large amount of starch.

Sabudana for weight loss:

While talking about weight loss sabudana might not be a perfect choice. The carbohydrate content increases satiety, but the high-calorie content can throw you off track. 100 grams of cooked sabudana khichdi contains around300 calories and 30.19gramsof carbohydrates which might be more than your total calorie intake for breakfast.

Toor dal khichdi:

Khichdi becomes healthy when you use dal in it.  If you use Toor dal or any other dal with the rice, it would be much healthier than sabudana khichdi and  a great source of protein and healthy carbs. Protein helps in cell growth and regeneration, which is crucial when trying to lose some kilos. One bowl of dal khichdi contains only 203 calories.

Toor dal khichdi for weight loss:

Dal is loaded with proteins that keep you fuller for a long time and help in cell growth as well. It is high in fibre and an excellent source of folic acid. Other than this it is also beneficial for diabetic and heart patients. But the only issue is the amount of rice used in it as many consider them fattening, so most people avoid it when trying to lose weight. But in reality, rice is good for health and should be a part of your regular diet. You just need to control your portion.

Which one to include in your diet

Dal khichdi is much better than the sagoo or sabuddana one and is even more nutritious as it contains fewer calories. Sercondly the  fiber in it also helps to keep you fuller and the nutrients can increase the fat-burning process.
