Foods to Avoid If You are Infected with COVID-19 

We all like to stay in our comfort zone when we are not well and for many people, food is their comfort zone, but some food items can be harmful to your health. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, when someone is not well they should eat foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals, like vitamin D and C and zinc for a speedy recovery. For your quick recovery, here is the list of foods that you must avoid if you have covid-19: 

If you have caught a COVID-19 infection, then you should avoid foods high in sodium, added sugars, and preservatives. All these foods cause inflammation, which can delay the healing process. You should not eat potato chips and other such snacks as well. 

  • Red meat  

You should not consume red meat much as it is rich in saturated fat that promotes inflammation. Instead of this add foods that have monounsaturated fats. You can have Avocados, olive oil, and fish rich in omega 3 fatty acid.

  • Fried food 

Deep-fried foods are high in fat so when you are sick try to avoid fried foods as it will only increase the burden on your loaded immune system. They increase bad cholesterol. 

  • Spicy food 

Try not to have spicy food when you have a cold, cough, or flu as it irritates the throat and makes you cough even more. 

  • Sugary items 

Added sugar causes inflammation in the body so avoid consuming them. Also don’t consume carbonated drinks and soda while you are recovering.
